…Says Nigerian University Students not ready to endorse any
Presidential Candidate inrespective of his Influence, Personality or
Integrity.
With utmost regards to all Nigerian University Students, Solidarity
greetings to you all.
Sequels to the National Association of University Students communique
issued on Friday, 20th February 2015 which reads as follows:
“NAUS DECISION ON THE FORTHCOMING GENERAL ELECTION”
“The National Association of University Students (NAUS) would be
taking a key decision on who to support as next president of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The University body does not believe in a party but personality of the
aspirant that want to occupy the position.
The above named association would take decision at a WORLD CONFERENCE
on saturday 28th February 2015 at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida
University, Lapai,Niger State”
MY OPINION:
…..On behalf of the entire Nigerian University, Particularly my
institution to be precise, I strong condemn such act even before the
decision would be make, perhaps we all know in whose favour the
conference will be organized.
I wish to notify all the Nigerian University Students that, this
decision about to be taken by the NAUS Executives will be without
doubt divide the most outstanding relationship with the Nigerian
University Students from different institution within the Country.
For Clarification: The association was formally operated in two basis,
The National Association of Nigerian University Students (NANUS) and
National University Students Association(NUSA) which after
investigation and proper understanding the two great Associations
under different leadership agreed to come together as one University
body for the purpose of peace, unity and progress of the association.
Therefore, The association was re-formed to be called National
Association of University Students (NAUS).
Though, Even before the world conference, most of the Nigerian
University Students knows who could be picked as the NAUS Presidential
Candidate towards the upcoming 2015 General Election.
But I want to strongly address the present NAUS Executives that, the
decision about to be taken will definitely divide the Interest of
Nigerian University Students which at the end may coursed the Division
of Power by Faction within students whose interest was not favoured.
The NAUS Constitution did not guarantee the Power of endorsing a
Presidential Candidates even if NAUS does not believed in any
political party, the decision about to be made is illegal and a
disgrace to the NAUS constitution.
Though, Every single Nigerian University Students has a right to join
any political party and endorse any presidential Candidate on behalf
of his own interest not with the voice of our innocent Students who
where always not even recognized by the government .
I want to strongly once again advise the Leadership of “National
Association of University Students (NAUS)” to kindly disregard the
issue of endorsing any presidential candidate for the Unity and
Progress of Nigerian University Students.
However, if the present Administration insist in proceeding with its
decision, another World Conference 2 would be made by those who
believed the decision made was not on their favour.
