Bajoga, the headquarters of Funakaye local government area of Gombe state came under attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents Thursday morning.
Panicked residents told Daily Trust that the insurgents came in about 30 hilux vans armed with an RPGS and other weapons chanting Allahu Akbar.
Bajoga is about 70 kilometers from Gombe town, the state capital.
The attack started at about 7am on Thursday, Daily Trust learnt. They came in through neighbouring Yobe state.
A resident who spoke to Daily Trust through telephone said the rampaging insurgents targeted public buildings including schools, police stations and local government secretariat.
Last month, the insurgents launched a similar attack on Nafada, also in Gombe state.
The state shares common boundary with Yobe state where the activities of the insurgents have been high in the past five years.
