About 20 persons, including four anti-riot policemen were severely injured in a bloody communal clash between Ede and Ido-Osun towns in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun state.
The bloody clash in the two towns began in the early hours of Saturday and lasted for about four hours before anti-riot Police men eventually succeeded in curtailing the situation and restore normalcy.
According to findings by our reporter, the clash began between the people of the two towns when it was discovered that the people of Ede had erected a sign post bearing Ede community on the site of the Osun State Airport.
The new airport which is still under construction is located between Ido-Osun and Ede, but the two towns claimed ownership of the land.
Trouble however started when the people of Ido-Osun saw a sign post with the inscription “this land belongs to Ede” on the site of the airport.
This development eventually spurred the anger of the people of Ido-Osun who also mobilized themselves to the site and removed all the sign posts erected by the people of Ede community and the removal of the sign post led to the clash between the two towns.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Dorothy Gimba confirmed incident and assured that investigating is on and that the situation is under control.
It would be recalled that Oba-Ile and Oba-Oke in Olorunda Local Government Area of the state had penultimate week engaged in a violent communal clash which claimed lives of some citizens of the state.
