Kano Film Village And Clerics Who Spend Poisonous Oil Money But Won’t Make Movies

NewsRescue

There is no source of wealth more deleterious than oil. All processes of harnessing oil lead to destruction of God’s earth and environmental pollution of various degrees. Even use of oil in vehicles and industry poisons the atmosphere, humanity and extinguishes the earth and its life. The Niger Delta is the most polluted piece of land in Nigeria, only possibly on par with gold-mined Zamfara.

Today, hard-line clerics in Kano who are benefactors of Nigeria’s and Saudi oil exploration and sale have kicked against a film village in Kano State. While I am unable to get into the nitty gritty of it, would these clerics reject any benefit from poisonous oil income as well? Is there not a way to discuss the making of movies as will be acceptable rather than a total threatful condemnation of the project?

So while I will not judge the clerics, I will like us to ask them: will you henceforth reject any utilisation of oil-based wealth and what indigenous produce can they suggest to drive the northern and Nigerian economy at large?
