18 year old girl beheaded for rituals in Imo, Nigeria

NewsRescue- Although we can not verify, in a very touching, remarkable development, the very sister of the young man accused of this horrendous act, recently commented on this article, that- though he is her brother, he should be killed for it. Linda Uwakwe:

We have contacted her for a brief on her relationship with the accused and an indepth on his life and times, to understand better from her the reasons why she believes he can act in such a way. We sympathize with her and the family as well as the victims family and friends.

Residents of Owerri were Wednesday morning treated to a morbid spectacle as the police command paraded four suspects and the decomposing head of an 18-year old Chinwe Doris Perpetua Obieri, who was murdered for ritual purposes.

The bizarre scene, which was a replica of the infamous Otokoto saga of September 1996, had the prime suspect, 24-year old Emeka Uwakwe, from Ndiakunwata, Arondizuogu, Ideato North local government area of the state, clutching the decapitated head of his girl friend, Chinwe.

Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aloy Okorie, gave the names of the other suspects as Chigamezu Anyaoha from Orodo, Mbaitoli local council area, Anthony Obioha from Lude, Ahiazu Mbaise local government area, and the medicine man, Damian Joseph from Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Okorie gave a graphic account of how the sordid crime was committed and the efforts made by the state police command to apprehend the suspects in far away Lagos State. Excerpts:

“You can see we have a case of murder for ritual murder. What happened was that on Sunday, July 26, 2009, the young lady whose head you are seeing (pointing at the decapitated head of Chinwe) left her Akokwa home, Ideato North local government area of Imo State. You can see the head without the body.

“The young man, Emeka Uwakwe, is the boy friend of this girl and he came all the way from Lagos and lured her to his house in the village. He murdered the girl, cut off her head for ritual purpose and dumped the headless body in a bush. Apparently, the girl had told her parents that she was going to visit her maternal uncle in another village.

“As at 7.04pm on that same Sunday, she called her parents and informed them she was already in her maternal uncle’s compound and they believed her. Later, her parents made a call to her and the call was not pulling through up till the next morning and by Monday when it was obvious that she was not coming back, they made a report to the police that their daughter was missing.

“The names of the parents are Mr. Nicholas and Mrs. Theresa Obieri from Umuezeala, Umueziama Kindred in Akokwa. It was after they made the report to the police that some vigilante people on the same date, came around and said they saw a headless body in the bush. The police invited the girl’s parents and they identified the headless body to be that of their daughter.

“It was at that point that the police swung into action and started making investigations. From information, we got to know that she had a boy friend who is resident in Lagos and who was seen around home within that period. So, we went to Lagos and we were able to arrest Emeka Uwakwe. You can see him now with the head of the slain girl (pointing at Emeka).

“When we now got him, he made a confession that Mr. Damian Joseph of Obot Akara in Akwa Ibom State, though he is based in Lagos also, was the one who made the charm with which, if he got the head of this girl, mix it with the charm and bury it, money will start flowing, he will start plucking money as if he was plucking fruits from the tree. That was exactly what the man did. He (Emeka) got the concoction, mixed it with the head and buried it in his room.

“We also went for the Native Doctor and got him. Meanwhile, Emeka made a confession too that it was his friends, Chigaemezu Anyaoha and Anthony Obioha, that introduced him to the Native Doctor and that he was capable of making medicine for money. They also confirmed that they had done such a medicine before with human scrotum. We do not know whether it their own scrotum or other people’s scrotum. We will surely find out in due.

“You can see the pretty 18-year old girl (displaying her photograph). I am sure if you had seen this girl when she was alive, you will weep. You will certainly weep because I have never seen a thing like that in my life. I just imagine my own daughter of that age being slaughtered for ritual purposes.

“Well, in an era where we talking about people going to live in the moon, that is the age we are in, 21st century, and people are still being fooled that they can use human head to make money. It is very unfortunate.

“Emeka Uwakwe was arrested on Wednesday last week (August 12, 2009) and when he gave us the information on how he got about the whole show, our men left for Lagos on Sunday and we were able to arrest both the Native Doctor and the other two boys. The next line of action is that they will pay the price prescribed by the laws of the land. We all know the price for somebody who has committed murder. He will pay with his own life. There is no duplicate for life. If he had the courage to kill somebody, he should also be prepared to face the consequence. He should be in a position to say if he killed her with a knife or first strangulated her before he cut off the neck.

“It is very clear that the girl deceived her parents. My advice is simple. I have a daughter of that age. I know how we monitor her. Most times, especially in this era, if she has to go out, we must let go with somebody because you never can tell. That age is a critical period in the training of children. Parents should monitor their daughters closely. It is easy to make contacts in this GSM era. I am sure that if the parents had raised alarm that very night they did not see her, may be things would have come out differently.  Source

    One thing any government should always do is (a tooth for a tooth), kill a killer, behead and in public no ceremonies a person who beheaded another person.

    These crimes increases daily with innocent people beuase the people commintting these crimes know that they can only be sent to prison.

    Only very few people can risk it, if they know that they will instantly pay for any offense they commit.

    Nigeria can be a better place for all of us.

    Guyz u've all tried in your contributions, but let me make it clear to everyone of u, when are we going to face the reality and tell ourselves the truth. the Govt is trying but we human beings have refused to help out. what are parents doing? are they taking care of their homes or are they after money and politics? the churches that is supposed draw pple's mind closer to God have become a market place, teaching young girls to be naked, the Teaching of "SALVATION AND HOLINESS" is no longer practice in many churches 2day in Nigeria. Nobody fears God anymore. if u will agree with me both the girl that was beheaded and the boy friend who beheaded her must have one time attended one of these Nigerian Churches but b/cos they were not fed with "SALVATION FIRST" that is why this type of thing is happening 2day. Parents wake up, Churches wake up. let us go back to the parents of the old, when mothers are being called MAMA and Fathers PAPA, instead of the MUMMYs and DADDYs of these days. Churches go back the Old when men us to fear God.     Tears has filled my eyes.I do not know actually what to say.The crime rate in Nigeria my country is very high.Armed robbery,raping,ritual killing,kidnapping and so on all are in the name of making money.

    But sometimes i ask my self a question,where are we taking all these money to?What are we going to use this money for?Can one drive more than one car at a time?Can one live in more than one room at a time?

    Please let the Parents (Papa and Mama) give their children good up bringing.Let them make their children understand that "Rome was not built in a day" like my own father had told me.Bring your children close to God and always know what they are doing to earn there living.May God almighty in his infinite mercy save the soul of the poor innocent girl and give the family the fortitude to bear the lose.

    I hate hearing this kind of things especially when it happens to a young girl of her age, well may her soul rest in perfect peace and may God grant her family the heart to bear the irreparable lost of Late Chinwe. As for the people that killed her, I want the people in charge of the case to put all of them I a slow and painful death, i.e. cutting parts of their body one after the other at different days, at least with that others can learn a little.     It is unfortunate that a young man at that age should be involved in such a dasterdly act just to make quick money when he is supposed to be in the school or learnin a trade. I want to blame it all to family up bringing. I do not agree with the prayer of ebony jay above who tried to blame it on the leadership. It is understandable that the government is not helping matters, but is that enough reason to take the life of a fellow human being to make money. My advice is that parents should train up their children the way they should go and when they grow they will not depart from it (Pro 22:6).

Yes it is true that our parient has alot of works to do but we children also have our roll to play by fearing God in all our doings and remember that the life that ourparients are giding is our life and not theirs. so the way we lay our bed so we are going to lie on it. you can only force horse to the streem but you cannot force to drink the water, i will share a story of a 15 years old girl who stays under her parent care but learn bad habit from friends later the girl was preginated by unknown man without the knowledge of her parient who try to satisfy her. at the long run people started blaming the parient for what they no nothing about.when i was departing from my parient my father left one word with me which says remember the son of who you are. which have been keeping me for the past 7 years now. i will like to live this same word with the reader of this message.

      This guy in question is so stupid and useless that he can not use his brain and think of what to do and pray to God to help him so that all his desire will be granted instead of him killing his own girl friend i doubt if he has not been killing before now,now the rapture has descend on him, i would have love to be there the day he is going to killed off course i know he must not to unpunished, my own contribution here i will advice those that is going to kill him to first of all bring out his eyes and give him to chew and the next day the other side of his eyes and the next day one side of his hand should be cut and keep it with him so that he will be looking at it, the other side hand should use and make a neck lace for him then leave him for at least three days,this is also implies to all of those that is responsible for this devilish act because i know he has gangs that has been doing this in IMO STATE.

    It is hard to believe that somebody in his rightful sense will kill another in the belief that the dead will produce money. The other guys who adviced him after they had commited a similar crime do not look rich to me. I wonder how many life we have lost to such calous belief. Please advice our young men to stop killing innocent people, dead people do not bring money, else how do you account for the wretched look of the medicene man and his accomplice. Let justice be done in this case, he who lives by the sword will also die by the sword.

    it is still a puzzle to me that in this century people are still brainwashed into believing that human parts can produce currencies both soft and hard ones. the government agencies and officials, if they are not part of this primitive wickedness should organise awareness programmes to enlighten our youths that there is nothing like money spinning from human parts mixed with any concoction anywhere, you reap because you sowed, where you don't sow, whose own will you reap? don't be deceived, no money from any human parts, full stop! you will only increase your sorrow by killing with the hope of getting rich from that.

    For the first time I see somebody recommending the good works of Nigerian police. I thank God for this particular set of policemen. It is the syndrome of get rich quick that is causing all this trouble. The Bible said iniquity shall abound, it is indeed abounding. You reader, you need to pray for Nigeria. This is just the beggining, our preachers of the gospel failed to preach Christ and his redemptive power and preach wealth. entertainers parade necked women on television stations, young men who suppose to be flower of the nation are running to Libya and other countries of the world for same money even when they have nothing to offer. Nobody wants to sweat and work for money. Nigeria and every thing in it have failed God, and God has given us to reprobate minds. Our prayers should be God have mercy on us. Immergine some body cutting off life from that young girl no fear of God, it beats my imagination. Parents warn your children, tell them the fear of God.

    Nigeria need prayers. It is evil before God and man. The law shall have its course. If our leaders were to do the right thing using our God given resources to better the life of its citizen such crime among other will be curbed or eradicated.     Though am from Owerri Imo state, but live in Houston, Texas U.S.A,I have two response to this publication. The perpetrators of this heinous crime should be made to pay with their life by either face the hangman or by summary execution; as they do not deserve to be alive and their carcass left to the bird of the sky. Its still a surprise that such wicked and devil incarnates are still on the surface of the earth. In Nigeria today there is no value for human life, many die in road accident that are preventable, armed robbers and police felling innocent people of that great country. The Nigeria state has failed its citizens, we need revolution and people should rise up and take back our beautiful country back from the criminals and heartless rulers. See what is happening in the banking sector, billions of Naira lost in phony deals to enrich themselves. Since the past 8years and counting no meaningful legislation has being passed in both the senate and house to help better the life of Nigerians and put the country in the part of transformation and growth. All they left behind both past and present is anarchy, lawlessness and ruin to the Nigerian state. My heart is filled with pain and sorrow, and I wept for my father's land. Well need to come together and leave good legacy for posterity and better country for the next generation.
