Fashola’s Transit Home For Victims Of Domestic Violence

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has expressed the determination of his administration to take the lead in the fight against violence on women, rape on young girls and child trafficking, just as he commissioned a 176-bed facilities transit home for victims of domestic violence, child abuse and related acts.
Fashola who made the pledge yesterday while commissioning the project at Ayobo town in Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), said his government was ready to champion the fight against the scourge, while warning that nobody should underestimate the capability of the state government.
His words: “We are now prepared as a government to show our might and capability to take the lead on the war on wife battering, rape on innocent girl child and trafficking. Nobody should underestimate the capability of the state government to change what it does not want.
“In Lagos, we will not give up because we will roll up our sleeves and lead from the front fight on violence against women because there is no life without a woman,” he said.
Fashola explained that the building of the transit home was one of the steps taken by the state government to arrest the act of violence against women and child trafficking, just as he enumerated projects and programmes executed so far to better the lives of the female gender.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Joke Adefulire, had said violence on women and children was not acceptable in the state, adding that the refuge home will frontally challenge domestic abuses in Lagos until it reduces to the barest minimum.
Mrs. Adefulire said, “It is noteworthy that domestic violence has been on the increase in the state and traumatises the victims. Such violent act has led to increase in the number of area boys, girl’s prostitution and separation of marriages.”

Please lets give Fashola another 6 years to redesign Lagos like he is doing so far. After then we can do a massive campaign at home and in diaspora for him to run for president. For someone that has lived in Lagos for years before leaving these pictures are just unbelievable. I acn’t wait to visit Lagos.
i am soooo proud of our governor mannnnn if all the images can be put to real trust me we aere on top including the tram. am an engineering student, studying in ireland @ DIT Dublin Institution of Technology & i am full of different ideas. i am willing to help Nigeria to the highest level we can get in terms of facilities. houses, roads including rules & regulation & many more. by the grace of God we will be a great nation & we will make it in Jesus name 9ja 4 life
There is no doubt, our indefatigable Governor BRF has shown that Nigeria can and will be great if there are more focused and honest leaders. We must ALL however keep praying for him for God’s protection and discerning spirit against the ‘hawks’ parading the corridors of power pretending to be ‘advisers’. This is one of the things we can do to ensure that this momentum is sustained. LONG LIVE BRF and his tireless team of dedicated officers and appointees.
I meant we cannot be what we are as a country without having many Fasholas, and that the Abuja thieves should be men and women enough to allow the golden governor of Lagos State redeem our battered image. Gov. Fashola should be allowed to do for Nigeria what he is doing for Lagos
I knew someone is there we cannot be the most populous and most educationally advanced in Africa without having a Fashola. Up you my brother. I hope the other idiots scattered around the 35 states and national robbers in Abuja are men and women enough to all you redeem the tattered image of a cornucopia God deliberately created in Africa for us to enjoy.
God be with you.
At a time when all hope seemed lost, there emerged a conscience-driven breed of a man who has vowed to be accountable to God and man and, who has made up his mind to be servile in leadership. This God-send has within a short while brought about tremendous transformations to Lagos socio-political landscape. This man is no other person than our living legend: BRF.
Indeed, this is a threshold of better things to happen to lagos and our dear Nigeria at large if BRF’s example is replicated in the plunderers manning the other 35 states and the FCT.
Kudos to you for reviving our dreams and fulfilling your electoral promises. We can’t wait for 2011 to come!!! Please keep shining and resplendent in the mercy, protection and, favours of God and to the envy and chagrin of your detractors…
I just want to say thank you sir.
Mr lagos state govn, you are a very wonerful man and with your out standing job of turning lagos from trash to grace, you are my brother and you made me proud as a Nigerian, and i hope somebody like lucky igbenedion the former Edo state govn visit lagos to see what they called leader with vision. Two thumps up for you. you made me believed that if Nigeria leaders put their mind down to develop the country within short period of time, the country would meet up with america intense of development Thank y0u sir.
The Nigerian Obama for 2011 ?
Well done Sir
Yes Gov Fashola in the affirmative, we are getting ready 4u
Will the remaining 35 Fasholas from the other states please stand up , please stand up …………………… .
We are waiting to see your masterpiece and delivery.
Without a doubt, Governor Fashola should be the next President of Nigeria. We are all proud of him.
Julie
The problem with Nigeria is not lack of resources, but lack of proper management and maintainance culture. Gov.Fashiola is proving something to every Nigeria; that with foresight, and good resource management, every thing is possible in Nigeria. I wish that all other state Governors would be humble enough to learn from this Good man of the people.
Nigerians are tired of non productive and loud mouted leaders. Fashiola is sounding the wake up call from North to south.
Mr fashola your good works should go beyond lagos, It is you Nigeria needs, A pragmatic and focused leader that will tackle issues headlong, Pls start preparing yourself for the next presidential election.
the images of the new lagos is really awesome. cant come to terms that LAGOS can be reformed totally in a short period like this……. waoh its magical. please keep up the good job the honorable GOVERNOR, AND WAIT AND SEE IF THOSE IN EXILE WONT COME BACK HOME TO ESTABLISH…. I BET THEY WOULD!!!!! KUDOS TO U SIR.
i was just extremly surprise about people comment on lagos the old lagos still better than the new lagos the lagos i knew 70s is better than the present lagos we lagosian is left for house to take care of what belongs to us lagos is a place where any other nigerians should apply for visa to be 99% of the crime in lagos committed by people from other state but sooner or later all will be under control Fashola thank for you caring of the beautiful city center of excellecy .
No comment.I thought i was just looking at the picture of naother country.I pray he build the desigh of the new yaba market. That is the best picture i have seen around.I think i will start planning to come back home before it is too late. That means that Nigeria will become great just within a very short time if only those wicked leaders of ours will allow it.We shouuld all join hands and make our country great. This is unbelievable
this is too much BRF, you are just too wonderful. infact we need you as nigeria president. eko o ni baje oooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you feel, should we start campiigning to boot out yaradua already and put Fashola there now, I mean why wait when he can better the whole Nigeria from now?
I think we should all rise up and campagne for Mr Fashola, cos im so proud of him for what he’s done for Lagos state. Although,i’m Akwa-ibomite but not withstanding. I so proud of him and i wouldn’t mind campagning for him as the president of this great country. Naija for life.
A great new beginning for an emerging new Lagos.
